Thurstan Moodley

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

B.Bus.Science-Honours (Finance), CFA

Thurstan has more than 8 years of experience in the Financial Services Sector, 5 years of which were dedicated exclusively to managing private equity & mezzanine finance and structured investment product asset portfolios. Thurstan has additionally managed senior debt investments as well as investments in the Small to Medium Enterprise sector. Prior to founding Khumovest, Thurstan held the position of Associate Principal at the PIC, specifically tasked with managing the PIC’s more than USD 2 billion Private Equity (Mid & Large Cap) and USD 4.3 billion Structured Investment Product Portfolios. Thurstan has served as a non-executive director on companies in the Financial Services and Real Estate Sectors. He has served as Chairman of Finance and Investment Committee as well as a member of Asset & Liability, Audit & Risk and Social & Ethics Committees. Thurstan holds an honours degree in Business Science (Finance) from the University of Cape Town and is also a CFA Charter Holder.

Ratirelo Mothobi

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

B.Com-Honours (Accounting), CTA, CA(SA)

Ratirelo has 9 years of experience in various facets of the financial services sector, including Investment Banking, Private Equity, Mezzanine Finance and Audit/Assurance. Prior to founding Khumovest, Ratirelo held the position of Associate Principal at the PIC, specifically tasked with managing the PIC’s more than USD 2 billion Private Equity (Mid & Large Cap) and USD 4.3 billion Structured Investment Product Portfolios. Prior to joining the PIC, Ratirelo spent 2 years at Rand Merchant Bank focussing on Structured Finance and another 2 years at Deloitte where he performed assurance work. Ratirelo has served as a non-executive director on companies in the Financial Services, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Agri-Services and Pharmaceutical sectors. He has served as a member of Credit, Audit & Risk, Remuneration and Social & Ethics Committees. Ratirelo holds an honours degree in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg and is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Priyan Padayichie


B.Com-Honours (Finance), CFA

Priyan is Khumovest’s first recruit, and brings with him over 4 years of experience in the Financial Services sector, where he spent his time focusing on private equity, unlisted debt and structured investment products. Prior to joining Khumovest, Priyan held the position of Investment Associate at the PIC, where he formed part of the PIC’s small to mid-cap Private Equity team. During his tenor at the PIC, Priyan was actively involved in fundamental analysis (top-down and bottom-up), instrument pricing, financial modelling and deal structuring/negotiation. Priyan represented the PIC, as an observer, on the Board of companies in the Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical sectors. Priyan holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (with Honours) in Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand and is also a CFA Charter holder, having passed all three levels of the CFA program on his first attempt.

Thembeka Hamca

Financial Controller

  • Thembeka has 6 years of experience in finance and accounting
    from various industries.
  • Prior joining to Khumovest, she was an Accountant for the
    GladAfrica Group, an engineering and consulting firm, with
    revenue of over R150 million per annum. In this role, she was
    tasked with financial reporting, audit, managing supplier,
    maintaining relations with customers, collections and compliance.
  • Previously she held a position in Eskom Holdings as an Assistant
    Accountant and as a Creditors and Debtors Clerk at CHC
    Resources a storage and chemical firm.
  • She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from University of
    Johannesburg and currently completing Post Graduate Diploma In
    Cost and Management Accounting from UNISA.

Nokulunga Njilo

Operations Manager

  • Nokulunga brings over 6 years of administrative experience to the table with expertise in scheduling and correspondence.
  • Prior to joining Khumovest, Nokulunga was previously employed as the Executive assistant to the CEO of a Swiss company (CI International) for 3 years. With previous experience as a senior assistant, she has developed many employee development programs as well as planned several staff retreats.
  • Nokulunga was also employed by BMW Financial Services in 2012, undertaking a broad range of secretarial and office administrative duties.
  • After graduating in 2010 she worked for the Legacy Group, her previous experience in the hospitality industry groomed her with calendar planning, logging activity, and keeping an open channel of communication within and between different business departments.
  • Having held positions in different business fields, she has increased efficiency in several of her assigned roles and is very effective in training new trainees.
  • Nokulunga has an Advanced Diploma in Administration and Hospitality Management, and is also a Bachelor of Commerce Strategic Planning student at Varsity College.

Carmelle Daniels

Executive Assistant

  • Carmelle started off her career in the financial services industry, where she held the position of Outbound Call Centre Agent at O’Keeffe & Swartz, a market leading outsourced Call Centre, specialising in the outbound sale of insurance products.  She swiftly graded from a Junior Executive Consultant to Senior Executive Consultant within the first few months
  • She continued her career in sales at Outsurance, where she gained experience as an Inbound Sales Advisor. Her responsibilities included quoting clients either as a result of an Inbound or Outbound lead, and converting that lead into a sale in terms of the quality and quantity criteria in place.
  • Prior to joining Khumovest, she worked at Tsogo Sun as Personal Assistant to the General Manager, where over and above her day to day PA duties, she was tasked with standing in for the General Manager and Assistant General Manager in their absence, especially with regard to checking in and overall arrangements for VIP and VVIP groups.
  • Carmelle is currently studying towards a qualification in Marketing. Carmelle spent two of her high school years studying at British Curriculum Al Mahd Day Boarding School in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, where she studied French, before returning to South Africa to complete her matric. The two years which she spent schooling in the Middle East, has enabled her to be tolerant of and able to interact with people from diverse cultures.

Elisa Ramufhi


  • Elisa is a young and exceptionally motivated individual who started off as a cleaner with an outsourced company after matriculating. She then completed a computer literacy course which allowed her to seek employment in the corporate industry. Elisa gained some experience in a call centre working as a Telemarketing Agent to better her communication skills.
  • When Khumovest opened their offices, she approached the Managing Partners for an opportunity to start a career. Khumovest took the initiative to assist Elisa and employed her as a Housekeeping Assistant/Receptionist Trainee.
  • Elisa is determined to learn as much as she can and does the best to educate herself during her spare time.
